The 2011 Loupe Awards Winners.

Congratulation to all of the amazing photographers who have placed in the Top 5 of their category and made it into the final judging round.

The Medium Format Fine Art Prize Exhibition Announcement.

The selection process for the Medium Format Fine Art Prize has been a tough one.
203 Medium and Large fromat images were submitted into this section of the awards. Images were created using old Holga Toy cameras with 120 film, Pin Hole cameras, old Linhofs and of course the latest the latest big boys from Hasselblad, Leaf and Phase One.

The 203 images were judged to determine the highest scoring 50 images. These images were then Proof printed with an Epson 3880 onto Canson Rag Photographique. The Proof prints were then reviewed again to determin the 30 printed that would make up the Exhibition.
We couldn't do it! In the end we finalised on 31 images.

These images will now be printed at a size of between 1 - 1.5 metres. These images will be mounted and framed ready for the exhibition. The Exhibition will travel to Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Gold Coast and Hong Kong throughout 2012. Details on Exhibition Times and Dates are to follow.

The Medium Format Fine Art Prize

We are very excited to announce the worlds first Medium Format Fine Art Prize. The art prize is a premier showcase of medium and large format imagery. The art prize is open to all photographers, professional and amateur however the images submitted must be shot from a medium or large format digital or film camera.

All images submitted will go through an online elimination round. This round will produce a shortlist of finalist images. The Top 30 images from the shortlist will become part of an Exhibition which will be showcased in various locations.

The Exhibition will culminate in a final event where the winner of the Medium Format Fine Art Prize will be awarded.

As well as a prize component, the focus of the art prize will be on exposing the participants to new markets and showcasing photography as the beautiful art form that it truly is. All images submitted to the art prize will be placed up for auction at the end of the Exhibition. Proceeds from the auction will be distributed between the Photographers, event costs and charity.

Hang on a minute wasn't it called the Aperture Awards?

Yes, we have changed the name of the awards to the International Loupe Awards. Why have we done this? The change is due to an unfortunate trademark conflict.

However the vision of the awards remains unchanged. We are still dedicated to excellence in photography and bringing greater awareness and exposure to our amazing entrants.

We have refined our judging process.

We have further broken down the judging process so that our judges are more targeted in their approach and better utilised to offer expert guidence and opinions in the areas they feel they have the most to offer.

We now offer a much higher level of image feedback.

We have merged our judging inferface with the Pro Feedback image assessment system. Now our judges have the option to not only offer feedback on how an image can be improved, but they can now pinpoint exactly where attention needs to be placed.
