Shelley comes from a strong Italian background in Australia. Her artistic career originated in Australia with a Degree in Visual Arts. It was after settling in New Zealand that she found her forte in photography, completing her Diploma at UCOL, Palmerston North. Shelley gained her Fellowship status at the New Zealand Institute of Professional Photography Awards in two years.
